IVolunteers met for the first time on Tuesday, November 22, 2005 to begin planning for a naming and dedication ceremony for 5th Ward Square. The ceremony will be held on Saturday, March 4th in the new 5th Ward Square which will be located beginning at the start of Carroll Avenue to Bateman Avenue. 5th Ward Square signs will be placed under existing street signs at the cross streets and unveiled during the ceremony. There will also be a Ribbon Cutting on either end of the Square.

The group also discussed producing a historical video of the area, forming a neighborhood association, developing a planter and improvement program and having a 5th Ward Square float in the 50th Newport St. Patrick's Parade which will be held the following Saturday, March 11th.
