COMMUTER RAIL |
In 2005 the Aquidneck Island Planning Commission unveiled a plan for the use of the West Site of Aquidneck Island that proposes various transportation scenarios for the west side roadway corridor.
A third major roadway on Aquidneck Island dedicated solely to vehicular traffic will result in greater traffic bottlenecks in Newport and contribute negatively to the environment.
The resolution asked letters be send to our Congressional Delegation and Governor Carceiri requesting support of and exploration into the continuation of a commuter rail system onto the West Side of Aquidneck Island which would help reduce traffic and preserve our environment.

Large events in the City of Newport impact residents and businesses in many different ways and since it is in the best interest of all to find out as much information as possible with regard to the successes and failures, perceived and real, of such events from the perspective of all residents and business owners City Administration was tasked with developing a formal procedure to gather input from all parties affected by events in a timely manner after the events are held and a follow up report be created and placed on file for reference for future Councils and Administrators. |
